Who we are!

Explore our island with a local Boricua world traveler adventure guide! Andrés, born and raised in Puerto Rico, has been on expeditions living with the Maasai Tribe amongst Lions in the African Savannah; navigated the entire Amazon River with Pink Dolphins from its source inland towards its outlet in the Atlantic coast of Brazil; gone wilderness camping under Glaciers with Grizzly Bears and wolves in Alaska; gone on week long silent spiritual retreat in a secluded Ashram by the Ganga River in Rishikesh, India; trekked solo to the highest peak on Planet Earth in the Himalayas of Nepal, camped an entire summer in Iceland and recorded a full music album in a music studio in Reykjavic Iceland where Björk recorded some of her classic albums… Andrés has lived in London, New Orleans, New York City… Andrés extensive Puerto Rican island explorations first started hiking barefoot to the cloudy mountain peaks of El Yunque Rainforest to connect with the ancestral energy of the Taino, the island’s pre-Colombian settlers. Andrés also started a solar energy brigade after the devastating Hurricane Maria in 2017. When many of the island’s mountain towns were expected to be without power for over a year, Andrés decided to give back to the mountains that had given him so much and founded “Off Grid Relief”, a non-profit organization that installed full solar energy systems for Free for over 41 Families adopting a remote, devastated village high in the mountains of Utuado and assisted in the creation of a fully off grid village with solar energy and spring water piped directly to their homes. The concept was to adopt a village and create a fully off the grid eco village in a community where residents were so affected by the Hurricane and the failing power system. Hopefully, that solar powered off grid village would serve as an inspiration for other neighboring communities who were still in the dark. Andres’ current home at the foothills of the Rainforest is now the home base for our Atabey Tours “Magical Mystery Tour” waterfall journey. He has planted over 20 varieties of organic Fruit trees (including Cacao, Coconut, Coffee, Acerola (Caribbean Cherry), Guanabana (Soursop), Guayaba (Guava), Aguacate (Avocado), Pomarrosa (Rose Apple) and many more… The idea is to create an Organic Fruit Forest that travelers will be able to sample (once the harvest is ready) on their way to or back from the waterfall adventure.
